Technological Innovations in Mental Healthcare

Question: Talk about the Technological Innovations in Mental Healthcare. Answer: Presentation Australia is a nation is a major nation. It is made out of individuals from various socio-social foundations, for example, the indigenous Aboriginal and the Torres Strait Islander individuals. Wellbeing difference has been recognized as a significant issue confronting the countrys medicinal services framework in light of the fact that the disparity and imbalance in the conveyance of wellbeing administrations is impacted by various socio-social elements. It is hence that there is a high pervasiveness of ailments and mortality among the indigenous networks than the remainder of the Australian culture. Nonetheless, the way that this difficult exists doesn't imply that it very well may be settled. The Aboriginals and the Torres Islander individuals can in any case be helped if fitting measures are taken. This paper presents a top to bottom and basic investigation of the utilizations of advanced narrating in tending to the steady issue of incessant sickness among the Aboriginals and the T orres Islander individuals. The Prevalence of Chronic Illness among the Indigenous Communities in Australia Research has demonstrated that there is a high predominance of constant ailments, for example, diabetes among the indigenous networks than non-indigenous networks in Australia. Throughout the years, numerous Aboriginals and the Torres Islander individuals have been experiencing ceaseless sicknesses. As a network, the indigenous individuals can't be contrasted with their non-indigenous partners from multiple points of view (Russell, 2013). The Aboriginals and the Torres Islander individuals have been presented to a wide scope of ceaseless sicknesses in view of their socio-social foundation. As a matter of first importance, the indigenous networks are not financially engaged. Countless the indigenous individuals are not instructed and utilized. Which means, they don't have the money related muscle to confront the wellbeing challenges influencing them. Without an occupation, the individuals can't manage the cost of value social insurance administrations. Which means, if there should be an occurrence of any disease, they probably won't gain admittance to the necessary clinical intercessions (Gajjar, Zwi, Hill Shannon, 2014). Simultaneously, inability to forces the correct nature of training compounds the circumstance since it makes the indigenous individuals to be uninformed of the advantages of social insurance in their lives. Availability to social insurance administrations is a significant factor that decides the wellbeing state of a network. Besides, the Aboriginals and the Torres Islander individuals have a high pervasiveness of incessant sicknesses on account of their social convictions. As a network, the indigenous individuals are known to be very moderate and odd. The Aboriginals and the Torres Islander individuals despite everything participate in certain social practices that open them to interminable sicknesses (Waugh, Donaldson, 2016). For instance, the faith in the causes, indications, impacts, and treatment of infections has been impeding the network individuals from heading off to the clinic to look for clinical administrations. The people group does this in light of the fact that as per their way of life, current wellbeing administrations are not fitting and applicable to their necessities (Donato Segal, 2013). In any case, this is a not well educated choice since sicknesses like diabetes require way of life changes, choices that must be adequately made and kept up through the help of medicinal services suppl iers. At long last, the Aboriginals and the Torres Islander individuals have a high pervasiveness of constant sicknesses in light of their geographic area. As an indigenous people, the Aboriginals and the Torres Islander individuals live in the country territories. These are remote places in which openness to social insurance administrations is frustrated by the deficiency of framework (Mitrou, et al., 2014). Rustic zones are known to be places with poor street systems and insufficient wellbeing offices. The insufficiency of foundation has been adversely affecting on the network since it keeps them from getting the wellbeing administrations that they need at some random time (Gubhaju, et al., 2013). At the point when individuals are situated a long way from the wellbeing offices, for example, they can't figure out how to get crisis social insurance administrations. This ca contrarily influences the network since it will expand the pace of diseases and mortality. The Effectiveness of Digital Storytelling among the Indigenous Communities in Australia The Aboriginals and the Torres Islander individuals are known to be the indigenous networks that have a one of a kind arrangement of issues. When contrasted with the remainder of the Australian culture, the Aboriginals and the Torres Islander individuals have been set up to having a high pace of incessant ailments. The high predominance of ceaseless sicknesses has unfavorably influenced the network from various perspectives (Panaretto, Wenitong, Button Ring, 2014). Strikingly, the predominance of interminable sicknesses has come about into financial misfortune. A great deal of cash has been utilized in the arrangement of medicinal services administrations to the network (Brown, O'Shea, Mott, McBride, Lawson Jennings, 2015). Moreover, the circumstance has influenced the network socially. Which means, it has made enduring the individual patients, family, and network individuals on the loose. The enduring suffered by one individual from the network is spread to their friends and family also. In this way, ceaseless sickness isn't an individual, yet mutual issue. To address the diligent test of constant sickness among the indigenous networks, countless mediations can be applied. One of the procedures that can be of incredible commitment in the destruction of ceaseless diseases in the network is the utilization of advanced narrating. Computerized narrating alludes to the utilization of advanced media to scatter wellbeing data as story (Hollis, Morriss, Martin, Amani, Cotton, Denis Lewis, 2015). At the end of the day, it is a story that is shared through an advanced media stage. A case of a computerized account is Hows Your Sugar? Here, people get a chance to portray their wellbeing stories and make it accessible to others to approach it. An advanced account can be intended to suit a wide scope of crowd (Gubrium, Hill Flicker, 2014). An individual recounting to the story gets a chance to disclose to the crowd more data about their wellbeing encounters and how they have been managing a specific disease in their lives. Hows Your Sugar? as a computerized account is an adaptable stage since it offers individuals a chance to utilize a wide scope of approachs while portraying their wellbeing story. It tends to be as sound tape, still photographs, or moving recordings. This implies it's anything but a limited stage, yet a differing media that can be utilized to get to a huge and different crowd incorporating those with ear or visual weaknesses. Whichever the plan received, an individual uses the stage to just recount to the story with respect to their wellbeing. It is in this manner most likely that computerized account is an honorable activity that can work supernatural occurrences (Sharma, 2016). On the off chance that appropriately used, it can assume a huge job in tending to different wellbeing challenges influencing a network or country. Surely, the utilization of Hows Your Sugar? has helped in changing the lives of the Aboriginal and Torres Islander individuals. Since the foundation of this advanced narrating stage, countless Australians have gotten an opportunity to recount to their accounts. The site resembles a casual field where customary individuals share their data. The tales told in the site are so solid since they are told by the patients who have, at one phase in their lives, confronted a test featured in the story (Tones, Robinson Tilford, 2013). It benefits the narrators by giving them a satisfaction that they need as people. The recounting anecdote about ailments confronting an individual can give a help since it expels the trash from them. It is a type of treatment since it gives a halfway answer for the issue (Hardy, 2015). An issue shared is half explained. Hows Your Sugar? has changed the lives of the Aboriginal and the Torres Islander individuals since it has allowed them to tune in to incredible stories from others. It has been outfitting individuals with amazing stories that have been helping them to settle on significant choices in regards to their wellbeing status. By gaining from the tales that diabetes is a malady that can be overseen, numerous individuals have chosen to change their ways of life and look for clinical consideration the manner in which it was finished by the narrators (Lupton, 2015). A motivation story given by a patient is treated as an applicable declaration that ought to be copied by others consistently. The narratives in the site are acceptable ones since they have loads of motivation to the individuals. In this way, it is prescribed to visit the site and get data that is helpful in the battle against ceaseless diseases like diabetes (Casado, 2014). Hows Your Sugar? shares heaps of likenesses with the diabetesaustralia.com. In any case, the two sites are utilized as narrating stages. Much the same as Hows Your Sugar? diabetesaustralia.com is utilized by patients who have been experiencing the malady on which the story is based. This suggests every one of the two sites present stories that are recounted from the point of view of the patients. The utilization of individual patients to introduce their own accounts is more remarkable than the utilization of specialists since it seems, by all accounts, to be motivational (Lupton, 2015). The benefit of this methodology is that it is successful and speaking to crowd. A story told by an individual who has had a genuine encounter is acceptable on the grounds that it is promptly adequate by the crowd. The other similitude between Hows Your Sugar? what's more, diabetesaustralia.com is that they give an adaptable stage to individuals to examine about incessant ailments. In spite of the fact that the narratives are told from the viewpoint of the patients, sufficient space is made for the specialists to contribute. the sites have permitted the narrators to utilize despite everything pictures of recordings to

Blog Archive Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT Sloan) Essay Analysis, 20162017

Blog Archive Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT Sloan) Essay Analysis, 2016â€"2017 *Please note: You are viewing an essay analysis from the 2016-2017 admissions cycle.  Click here to view our collection of essay analyses for the current admissions season.   Much to most applicants’ chagrin, the MIT Sloan School of Management has resurrected its dreaded “cover letter” essay prompt. After requiring candidates to pen a letter to the school’s admission director for multiple years in a row, MIT Sloan suddenly branched out in 2013â€"2014 with respect to its essay questions and offered candidates somewhat broader queries that we imagine many people found more approachable. But this unusual requirement is now making a reappearance, and this year, applicants have just half as many words in which to express themselves as the last time we saw this promptâ€"a mere 250 versus the previous limit of 500. And complementing the cover letter is another unorthodox option, a wide-open opportunity to provide additional information of any sort. Plus, keep in mind that if you are lucky enough to be invited to interview, you will be required to submit yet another 250-word essay. We understand if you are feeling a bit perplexed or overwhelmed. Let us tr y to sort through this with you… Cover Letter: Please submit a cover letter seeking a place in the MIT Sloan MBA Program. Your letter should conform to a standard business correspondence and be addressed to Mr. Rod Garcia, Senior Director of Admissions. (250 words or fewer) We strongly advise that you avoid starting your letter with a rote opening like “My name is Bob, and I am seeking a place in the MIT Sloan Class of 2019.” Your admissions reader will likely be asleep before he/she even finishes the sentence! Such information is obviousâ€"we can assure you that the admissions reader is well aware of your desire to be admitted to the MIT Sloan programâ€"and is therefore a waste of precious word count, not to mention that it is hardly the kind of gripping opening that will grab and hold someone’s attention. Interestingly, the school has streamlined its essay prompt this time around by leaving the query rather open-ended. Guidance seen in past years such as “describe your accomplishments,” “include an example of how you had an impact on a group or organization,” and “address any extenuating circumstances that may apply to your application” are conspicuously absent, giving you much greater freedom to choose and share the information you believe is most important for your candidacy. The 250-word maximum gives you roughly three short paragraphs with which to make an impression. Informal guidance provided by Sloan’s admissions committee since the release of this essay question indicates that applicants should focus on sharing their personal experiences, accomplishments, values, viewpoints, and/or skills to demonstrate (1) what they can contribute to the school’s greater community as a result and (2) why Sloan’s MBA program in particular is the best one for them. The school does not ask you to outline your post-MBA goals, but if doing so allows you to better substantiate your need or desire for a Sloan MBA specifically, a (very) brief explanation of your aspirations could be appropriate and useful. After discussing your accomplishmentsâ€"being careful not to brag!â€"along with any other elements of your profile that you feel make you a great fit with the school, strive to relate these achievements and qualities to the MIT Sloan experience. Citing specific courses, experiential opportunities, or other relevant resources can help you make a compelling case for your spot in the next incoming class. Optional: The Admissions Committee invites you to share additional information about yourself, in any format. If you choose a multimedia format, please host the information on a website and provide us with the URL. Suggested guidelines: Please keep all videos and media limited to 2:00 minutes total in length. Please keep all written essays to 500 words or less. If hosting your submission on a website, please ensure you provide an unprotected link (no password required).   We all just love a blank page, right?! (Note the sarcasm.) Submitting this optional essay is not absolutely necessary, but doing so is probably wise. How can you know for sure whether you need to? Before you start writing any essay for the school, brainstorm thoroughly and create a list of experiences you have had and aspects of your candidacy that you believe the admissions committee should know about you. Then, as you craft your cover letter essay, cross any ideas or stories you use off your list. If you feel strongly that the items that remain on your list are crucial to reveal to the school, you should most likely submit this additional “essay.” Sloan’s prompt states that you may use any format for this submission. Perhaps expecting that many applicants will choose to create a video, the admissions committee has specified that such recordings be no longer than two minutes. (You can search YouTube for “MIT Optional Essay” to find numerous examples of how others have approached this option.) That said, do not feel that you must use some form of multimedia. Again, start by brainstorming to determine what you want to say as an applicantâ€"what you feel the admissions committee really needs to understand about youâ€"and then decide which vehicle most appropriately matches your personality and message. That vehicle just might be another conventional essay! The key is to effectively convey additional information that highlights your personality, not to win an Oscar. And be aware that Sloan itself has noted that a strong optional essay can help differentiate two similarly competitive applicants, but it alone cannot get a weak candidate in. For a thorough exploration of the MIT Sloan academic program/merits, defining characteristics, crucial statistics, social life, academic environment, and other important elements, check out the mbaMission Insider’s Guide to the MIT Sloan School of Management. Those invited to interview will be asked to answer the following question: The mission of the MIT Sloan School of Management is to develop principled, innovative leaders who improve the world and to generate ideas that advance management practice. Please share with us something about your past that aligns with this mission. (250 words or fewer). Details for submitting your essay will be included in the interview invitation. Allow us to offer a word to the wise: carefully consider this question as you craft your other essay(s). Should you be so fortunate as to receive an invitation to interview, you do not want to discover at that point that you have no compelling stories left to share with the school because you have already used them all in your required essay and perhaps even via the optional essay. Thinking optimistically, you will need to reserve some key information for this submission later. In short, you are applying to MIT Sloan with the intention of being accepted, so anticipate and plan for that interview invitation so that you are prepared to respond effectively when the time comes. Now you may be thinking, “Can I really provide an anecdote that will convince someone I ‘improve the world’ or ‘generate ideas that advance management practice’?” We understand that this indeed sounds like a tall order, but it is not really as difficult as you may imagine, because the focus is on the  future. MIT Sloan’s admissions committee is asking you to draw on past experience to show that you are prepared to support the school’s mission  going forward. Rather than fretting about the latter part of that equation, concentrate on the first part, and provide examples of how you have already displayed principled or innovative leadership. The phrasing of the question is broad enough that your examples can come from the professional, community, or personal sphere. All these areas are equally valid. What is important is that you offer a clear narrative, so that your reader is able to easily visualize your actions and motivations. The admissions committee wants to learn about you through your experiences, not hear platitudes about management. As you share your stories, be sure to show a connection between them and the school’s mission, clearly linking them to Sloan’s goal statement. If you take the time to really contemplate how your experiences relate to that mission before your hands even touch the keyboard, you should be able to craft an effective submission. Laughter as Therapy in One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest by Ken Kesey Laughter is a therapeutic form. Turnitin is the software that AA Hamilton College uses to calculate the similarity of your assignment to any other document submitted in the same system all over the world. What happens when you submit an assignment on Turnitin? You submit your assignment on Turnitin by submitting it on Livecampus on the assignment submission link. Your assignment is then compared with all of the assignments for all the different units submitted on Livecampus as well as assignments submitted by other students in other colleges and books and documents all over the world. The report generated is not the final report. The final report will only be generated after the final deadline which would mean that once the submission link closes and once every student submitted assignments at AA Hamilton for the specific unit, only then the final report will be generated. This means that if you have shared your assignment with anybody and they have submitted part of it or the full assignment the initial report your friend got would’ve indicated the similarity, but your report would’ve remained unchanged. Observation Essay Topics Research Paper Example

Observation Essay Topics Paper How to choose the best observation essay topics? What is an observational essay? What does it mean – an observational essay? Its name suggests writing a paper which observes some object, idea or event closely. Your task is to be aware of the subject of research in order to notice each tiny detail; while making your observation, you need to pay attention to the object and take notes. Why do you need it? Because this is one of the descriptive essay types. The aim is to show at the end of observation how good you can make research and conclusions regarding what you investigate. Each person faces various life situations, and each of us has our own indescribable experience. But don’t think that each situation bothers everyone. While creating draw special attention to readers sensations; we mean taste, sight, touch, smell, hearing. Try to touch at least three of them during the process. You aim to describe the object most vitally, to show what an attentive person you are, but not to prove how hilarious your object is. Include sensory details. This type of writing is all about details, and it is the best when these details are vivid; try to make the subject alive on the paper by using your five senses. Tell your reader what it tastes, smells, feels, sounds, or how it looks like. Try to be creative, ask yourself the questions below about your paper and write down the answers; if I were the reader, would I feel anything? Would it touch me; what can I teach people with my paper? Writing in the present tense. That is more a rule than a tip, but your essay will only have more pluses if you use it; why present tense? Because writing in the present tense will draw a picture in recipients’ mind that you are a real person with a real story, who is writing at that moment. Try to use sophisticated language. The main thing of any paper is to give the most concrete characteristics of an object and event. If something looked bad, use the exclusive words to make the audience witnesses of these things. The more feelings you recall from a reader, the better the effect will be. For example: instead of using â€Å"That girl felt very bad,† say â€Å"That girl felt regretful† (or guilty,  ashamed,  contrite,  sorry,  shame-faced,  self-reproachful,  apologetic). How to Do the Color Change Chameleon Chemistry Demonstration

How to Do the Color Change Chameleon Chemistry Demonstration The chemical chameleon is a wonderful color-change chemistry demonstration that may be used to illustrate redox reactions. The color change runs from purple to blue to green to orange-yellow and finally to clear. Color Change Chameleon Materials For this demonstration, you start by preparing two separate solutions: Solution A 2 mg potassium permanganate500 ml distilled water Dissolve a small amount of potassium permanganate into water. The amount isnt critical, but dont use too much or else the solution will be too deeply colored to see the color changes. Use distilled water rather than tap water to avoid problems caused by salts in tap water that affect water pH and can interfere with the reaction. The solution should be a deep purple color. Solution B 6 g sugar (sucrose)10 g sodium hydroxide (NaOH)750 ml distilled water Dissolve the sugar and sodium hydroxide in the water. The reaction between sodium hydroxide and water is exothermic, so expect some heat to be produced. This will be a clear solution. Make the Chameleon Change Colors When youre ready to start the demonstration, all you need to do is mix the two solutions together. Youll get the most dramatic effect if you swirl the mixture together to thoroughly combine the reactants. Upon mixing, the purple of the potassium permanganate solution immediately changes to blue. It changes to green fairly quickly, but it takes a few minutes for the next color change to pale orange-yellow, as manganese dioxide (MnO2) precipitates. If you let the solution sit long enough, the manganese dioxide will sink to the bottom of the flask, leaving you with a clear liquid. Chemical Chameleon Redox Reaction The color changes are the result oxidation and reduction or a redox reaction. The potassium permanganate is reduced (gains electrons), while the sugar is oxidized (loses electrons). This occurs in two steps. First, the permanangate ion (purple in solution) is reduced to form the manganate ion (green in solution): MnO4- e- → MnO42- As the reaction is proceeding, both the purple permanganate and green manganate are present, blending together to produce a solution that appears blue. Eventually, there is more green manganate, yielding a green solution. Next, the green manganate ion is further reduced and forms manganese dioxide: MnO42- 2 H2O 2 e- → MnO2 4 OH- Manganese dioxide is golden brown solid, but the particles are so small they make the solution appear to change color. Eventually, the particles will settle out of solution, leaving it clear. The chameleon demonstration is just one of many possible color change chemistry experiments you can perform. If you dont have the materials on hand for this particular demonstration, consider trying a different one. Safety Information Sucrose and distilled water are safe and non-toxic. However, appropriate safety gear (lab coat, safety goggles, gloves) should be worn when preparing the solutions and performing the demonstration. Sodium hydroxide and potassium permanganate can cause irritation and chemical burns in contact with skin or mucous membranes. The chemical solutions must be labelled and kept away from children and pets to avoid accidental ingestion. Potassium permanganate is highly toxic to aquatic organisms. In some places, pouring a small quantity of a solution down the drain is allowed. The reader is advised to consult federal, state, and local regulations for proper disposal. Fast Facts: Chemical Chameleon Science Experiment Materials Potassium permanganateSucrose (table sugar)Sodium hydroxideDistilled Water Concepts Illustrated This demonstration is a good example of an exothermic reaction. The color change is produced via a redox (oxidation-reduction) reaction. Time Required The two chemical solutions may be prepared in advance, so this demonstration is instantaneous. Level The demonstration is suitable for all age groups. High school and college chemistry students studying redox reactions will get the most out of the experiment, but it can be used to stimulate interest in chemistry and science at any age. The demonstration may be performed by any high school or college chemistry teacher. Because there are safety protocols for using potassium permanganate and sodium hydroxide, this demonstration is not suitable for unsupervised children.

In finance, risk is best judged in a portfolio context. Is this true Essay - 7

In finance, risk is best judged in a portfolio context. Is this true Why - Essay Example This paper takes an argument to prove that individual stock cannot allow investors to help judging the overall risk associated with investment on shares. A critical criticism context will also be introduced in the paper later on to justify the argument regarding risk being judged better in a portfolio of stocks. It will not be incorrect to state that investors of stock market are directly associated with the risk which is not avoidable. These risks can be variable in types such as short-term risk or portfolio risk. For the focus of this paper, portfolio risk is being discussed in a contextual manner. It should be noted that portfolio risk is relatively low in accordance to the movements within the stock market. Herein, the process or concept of aggregation is considered for calculating risk associated with an asset or for valuing a company. It is due to this reason that individual investors are suggested to manage their portfolio risk because their individual transactions are aggregated. This denotes that investors tend to diversify their assets in order to judge the risk of security (Brealey, et al., 2010). It is not being proven here that by taking an aggregate of the risk of in a portfolio can eliminate risk. Portfolio of stock allows the investors to understand the associated risk in accordance of variation in all levels of the market. There is an underlying condition associated with portfolio risk. As a matter of fact, risk can be best judged in a portfolio context, as diversified stocks can have reduced risk. The underlying condition is that the return which is received by the investors is less than one. In this case, it is stated that diversification will remain beneficial or the investors (Brealey, et al., 2010). Risk or systematic risk is interlinked with the changes that may occur in the market. The risk is

Law of Equity and Trusts Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words - 1

Law of Equity and Trusts - Essay Example The first determination of the presence of a trust is with regards to a written declaration of it. There is no written declaration for the purposes of s. 53(1)(b) of the Law of Property Act (LPA) 1925 with regards to the home. The only written declaration of the trust is Uncle David’s Will. Thus, if Lorraine has to establish an interest, it must be under the rules ofPettitt v Pettitt(1970) later affirmed by Lloyds Bank v Rosset(1991), by way of resulting or constructive trust. This would result in an equitable interest for Lorraine. Resulting trusts are formed when there is a contribution made to the purchase price, which, in this scenario is not the case. The facts do not say whether she actually contributed to the purchase price by way of outright sum or through mortgage payments, both of which are accepted ways of establishing an interest in the house, and thus, it is presumed that Jonathan was the sole proprietor of the house. Lorraine joined him as a young girlfriend, and for that reason, her interest has to be established by way of constructive trust, which is formed in the presence of an oral assurance on which reliance has been made by the claimant to her detriment (see Lloyds Bank). The promise made by Jonathan can be easily evidenced as it was in the presence of witnesses. In 2009, he declared, â€Å"all of my property including our lovely barge home is as much yours Lorraine as it is mine†. This takes the form of an oral promise, and judging from the fact that it was made on several occasions, Lorraine can establish that it amounts to an interest of some kind in the property (Ungarian v Lesnoff (1990) and Eves v Eves (1975)). Thus, the second step for Lorraine in order to establish her equitable interest in the property would be to prove that she relied upon the promise to her detriment. Lorraine spent a considerable amount on structural repairs and decoration, to the tune of 65000 pounds and contributed half of her salary to

Every Man Dies but Not Every Man Really Lives Essay Example for Free

Every Man Dies but Not Every Man Really Lives Essay â€Å"Every man dies but not every man really lives† was among the few words written by Sir William Ross Wallace, an American poet during the 1860s. Well, as for me I want to live my life to the fullest before I leave to my eternal home up there. Having a bucket list simply keeps me on track to full fill every minor and major thing I want to do before I kick the bucket. The very first item on my list is to tell my mother that I love her. I believe in love at first sight because since the very first day I opened my eyes until to this very second, I still love my mom. My mom is my best friend and my hero because she has been with me through my laughs, heart breaks, tears and everything that came in between. Since babies are precious angels gifted from heaven, I would not want to miss the next thing on my list which is to make a baby laugh. That moment of being so satisfied upon witnessing the joy on their faces is a feeling of no value. Next, I want to make a difference in a beggar’s life by taking some incredibly small steps which will mean so much to them some day. Back to the olden days blockbuster ‘Dr No’, right up to ‘Casino Royale’ that hit the box office in year 2006 will be one of the thing I want to do which is to watch all of James Bond’s movies. Just like how Alex Thompson wrote a poem entitled ‘My First Time’ to share his experience milking a cow, I want to roam freely and spend one week of my life to learn how to milk a cow. Besides that, I want to go on a holiday with no luggage to add a little more spice to the memories I will take back. The ‘Steel Dragon’ roller coaster in Spaland located in Nagashima, Japan will be one thrilling ride I would not want to miss. To add more excitement, I will pay the risk to swim with a shark and to swing myself in the sky on a trapeze. Besides that, one thing I will definitely do is to push a policeman down the street and run away. To appreciate mother-nature and the greens that provided me sufficient oxygen to respire, I will plant a tree with my name carved on it. Among the crazy things that I do not want to miss to do is to pretend to be invisible just like drawing a picture using a white crayon on a white paper. From laughing at a public phone to confessing my love to a traffic light, I wish to do all kind of things that will make people think I just lost my mind for one simple reason that I wish to relate to the sayings of Mahatma Gandhi, ‘Live every moment of your life as if there is no tomorrow and as if there is no one watching’. Among the few last things I will do is to fall in love. Somewhere between laughing for no reason, stupid arguments, and making fun of each other, I will fall for the ‘him’ who is willing to catch me when I fall. Elvis Presley put it best in his classic love songs and I want to fall in love with no regrets. I want to be in love with a love that is nothing because nothing last forever and therefore my love will last forever. With commitments, trust and care I want to fell so alive to be in love with the right man. Finally, I will prepare letters and leave it to cope up with my loved one once I am gone just like how Gerard Butler did to Hilary Swank in the movie, ‘P.S. I Love You’. ‘As a well-spent day brings happy sleep, so a life well used brings happy death’ said by Leonardo da Vinci is the one thing that keeps me going and to stand up to live every day of my live doing things I want to do by simply being just the way I am.

J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter is NOT Sexually Biased Essay -- J.K. Rowli

J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter is NOT Sexually Biased J.K. Rowling’s blockbuster Harry Potter series contains mystery, suspense, compelling language and colorful imagery, magical feats, and real life concerns. These books have managed to get children of all ages reading in a society dominated by computers, television, and videos. However, there have been several critics that claim these books are sexually biased. From the beginning of the first Potter book, it is boys and men, wizards and sorcerers, who dominate the scenes and determine the action. This alone does not make these books sexually biased. Christine Schoefer, a freelance writer and concerned parent of three female Harry Potter fans, dissected the books in a brief piece for Salon on January 12, 2000. She claimed that the books are a â€Å"fictional realm of magic and wizardry that perfectly mirrors the conventional assumption that men do and should run the world† (Schoefer). J.K. Rowling did not attempt to portray the world as dominated by men. It is true that the Potter books contain more males. So what? Gi...

Singin in the Rain

Jenna Zeringo Singin’ in the Rain In 1952 Gene Kelly and Stanley Donen directed MGM’s musical comedy â€Å"Singin’ in the Rain†. Fifty five years later in 2007 it ranked number five on the American Film Institute list of â€Å"List of Greatest Films†. It’s evocative to Americans and is generally considered the best Hollywood musical film; it was not a Broadway production until several years later. Gene Kelly not only directed the classic but he also choreographed and starred in it as Don Lockwood. Debbie Reynolds played the part of Lockwood’s love interest Kathy Selden. Major roles included Donald O’Connor as Gene’s best friend and pianist Cosmo Brown and Jean Hagen as Lina Lamont. Based in 1920’s before sound was available to moving pictures the basis of the romantic musical comedy was about turning a film into a â€Å"talkie†, essentially a film with sound. Don Lockwood plays opposite Lina Lamont in the big screen, but her harsh tacky articulation just didn’t cut it in the recording booth. Kathy Selden, a chorus girl Lockwood met in two extraordinary instances is given the chance to dub over Lina with her singing voice and in secret make a musical. Lockwood and Kathy eventually fall in love. There are many elements that brought this film together. The musical aspect of the era it was produced was said to be cheerful, delightful and light hearted. Songs ranging from titles like â€Å"Make ‘Em Laugh† to â€Å"Moses Supposes† to â€Å"Singin’ in the Rain†. The songs also went hand in hand with the dancing. The tap dancing style choreography with the elements of real life tie in an amusingly â€Å"harder than it looks† way. When Gene Kelly is actually singing in the rain it seems like there’s a monsoon pouring on his elaborate footwork. There is also a slapstick comedy portrayed throughout the movie, physical sense of humor, and playful jesting. All of these elements transpired the picture to be as famous and well liked as it was and still is. It has all of the things an audience interested in musicals wants. It shows fun in secrets, romance, portrayed as hard to get, sly humor and witty jokes. All with such enthusiasm. Even today pop culture refers to it in formality and humor. Ultimately it is the most famous musical of Hollywood and will remain that way, because it’s classic.

Miller´s Analogy with Getting Up Early to Go Fishing Essay

Explain Miller’s analogy with getting up early to go fishing. What is this supposed to show? The dialogue on god, evil and the existence of god was between Gretchen Weirob, Sam Miller and Gretchen Weinrob. At the beginning, Weirob was sick and miller came to visit and ask Weirob to pray with him so god would cure her, but Weirob was a none believer and she refused to do so. Miller tried to convince Weirob that god exists and she should pray. Weirob tried to convince Miller that god did not exist by asking him if god exists and he is all knowing and all powerful, why did he let her get sick from the beginning? and why did he not let the illness that she suffers from go away. On the other hand, Miller gave her an example about a†¦show more content†¦In the third argument which is god is the necessary being and everything else is contingent. As Aquinas says in this argument there are two kinds of objects the necessary object and the contingent object. The necessary obje ct is the one which cannot be left out and the contingent is the thing that can be left out because there are other things. So this Argument discusses that there must be something necessary and all of the rest of the thing are contingent. As in Aquinas Argument everything is either necessary or contingent. If everything in the world is contingent, then everything is going toward an end, so at one time there would be nothing. In reality we can see that there is something right now which is the humans, other creatures. Therefore, not everything is contingent. On the other hand, let say that everything in this world is necessary, so everything will not tend to an end and that is wrong too because a lot of creatures are extinct. So there must be something necessary and all of the other thing is contingent. This statement leads us to Thomas Aquinas third Argument which is that god is the necessary being and all the other creatures are contingent. The Language of Medicine free essay sample

Everyone in my preschool class had aspirations for greatness. When asked by our teachers, three of my four-year-old chums would be president, six would be firefighters, and the rest would glue themselves to the playground and avoid growing up entirely. I, too, knew precisely what my future would entail. â€Å"And Stephanie, what will you be when you grow up?† Ms. Rita asked me. â€Å"Im going to be a doctor like my daddy,† I responded confidently, â€Å"or no †¦ Ill just be a dinosaur.† Unfortunately in this economy there is a shortage of jobs for the average Stegosaurus, so I revised my goal for my future and concluded that the medical field would benefit from a dreamer like me. As I got older my teachers, friends, and interests all changed, but my goal never did. I began my training early, fashioning myself into the local authority on all things biological. I diagnosed diseases within my own class and dressed wounds  procured at recess. We will write a custom essay sample on The Language of Medicine or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page My friends wanted to be veterinarians, but my dad inspired me down my path. â€Å"What does your dad do, Stephanie?† inquired my first grade teacher. â€Å"Hes a doctor,† I replied, â€Å"He kisses owies.† And I knew that was what I wanted to do some day too. Through my formative years, I accompanied my dad on morning rounds on Sundays. I was awed by his poise as he taught his residents the essential minutiae of reading a chest X-ray or performing a bronchoscopy. I was a sponge, absorbing his riddles of nonsensical vocabulary like they were essential to my survival. Alveoli, bronchioles, pleurisy, and pneumothorax – I wrote it all down, knowing that it was never too early to start studying for my MCATs. I was blessed with access to other opportunities within the realm of medicine, as well. As a freshman, I job shadowed an internationally renowned thoracic surgeon as he executed a textbook lobectomy, the removal of a defunct portion of the lung. Not only was I able to watch the procedure, but I stood at the head of the patient, observing the surgery from two feet away. â€Å"Mind your stomach,† Dr. Leroy warned, â€Å"Many observing med students get a vasovagal reflex, so please avoid vomiting or passing out on my sterile patient.† My stomach held itself quite well; I found that it was my brain that needed minding. It buzzed as dreams of my medical future manifested into certainty. I was no longer playing doctor but actually assisting a surgeon. I imagined my future self, standing in a similar operating room, wearing a white coat embroidered with my name, and going home after knowing that I saved someones life. The thought overwhelmed me as I carried four-and-a-half pounds of removed, cancerous lung tissue to another room. I was reminded of what my dad always said about his job: â€Å"The greatest reward in my profession is knowing that I make a difference every day and bring more happiness into the world with every right decision I make.† The same philosophy was expressed by Dr. Leroy, and I knew one day I would feel the same way about my job too. As my future built itself in my mind, I began to realize the discipline and diligence necessary to achieve my goal. Driven by wild dreams of running code blues, I worked harder than ever. I pushed  myself academically, earning straight As; I got involved in gymnastics, my school, and my community, and through my activities achieved a new level of focus. I developed perseverance and shed my old dream, replacing it with something more solid: a tangible goal. It is true that my exposure to the medical field has had a substantial impact on my life. It is also true that I will have the opportunity to make a substantial impact on medicine. I knew that when I was four, and I still know it now. My whole life I have known that I will attend a four-year college. I know I will graduate from medical school, and one day I will speak the language of medicine. I know I will bring more happiness to the world when I make the right choices in delicate situations. I know I will save lives.
